Kinds of Sentences

1. Declarative Sentences: Sentences that state a fact or make a statement are called declarative sentences.

Examples:

• The Earth revolves around the Sun.

• She loves reading books.

2. Interrogative Sentences: Sentences that ask questions are called interrogative sentences.

Examples:

• What time does the train arrive?

• Why are you late today?

3. Imperative Sentences: Sentences that express a command, request, or advice are called imperative sentences.

Examples:

• Turn off the lights.

• Please share your notes with me.

4. Exclamatory Sentences: Sentences that express strong emotions and end with an exclamation mark are called exclamatory sentences.

Examples:

• What a wonderful surprise!

• How amazing this view is!

5. Negative Sentences: Sentences that deny or negate something are called negative sentences.

Examples:

• She does not like spicy food.

• I never miss my morning workout.

6. Optative Sentences: Sentences that express a wish, blessing, or prayer are called optative sentences.

Examples:

• May you live a long and healthy life!

• Wish you all the success in your career!
